The short version

  • We never sell your information or use it for ads.
  • Reviews belong to the business that collected them, and they decide where they're shown.
  • We don't use facial recognition or voice prints. We store and play recordings, and turn speech into captions.
  • Ask us any time to see, download or delete your information.
  • Closed accounts are deleted after 30 days.

This summary is here to help. The full text below is what applies.

This policy explains what information videoreview collects, why, and what you can do about it. videoreview is a brand of Equity Capital LLC, 421 Broadway Unit #338, San Diego, CA 92101 (“videoreview”, “we”, “us”).

It covers two groups of people: businesses that use videoreview to collect reviews (“you”), and the people who record or write a review for one of those businesses (“reviewers”).

1. Our two roles

For businesses that sign up, we decide how account and billing information is used, so we’re responsible for it.

For reviewers, we work on behalf of the business that sent the record link. The business decides whose reviews to collect and how to use them, and we store and process those reviews for them. If you recorded a review and want it changed or removed, the fastest route is to contact that business. You can also contact us and we’ll pass your request on and help.

2. What we collect

What Examples Where it comes from
Account details Name, email, business name, website address, password (stored scrambled) You, when you sign up
Brand details Your logo, colors and fonts Your public website, when you ask us to scan it
Billing details Plan, billing history, last four digits of your card You and our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
Reviews Video and audio recordings, written reviews, a name or email if the reviewer adds one, captions and transcripts we create from the recording Reviewers, through a business’s record link
Request contacts Names and emails of customers a business asks for a review The business
Device and usage data IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, dates and times Collected automatically when you use our website or app

3. How we use it

  • To run videoreview: record, store, process and show reviews, and send the emails you ask us to send.
  • To create captions, transcripts, clips and quote cards from reviews, when the business uses those features.
  • To bill you, prevent fraud and keep the service secure.
  • To answer support requests and tell you about changes to your account or these policies.
  • To improve videoreview, using usage data that doesn’t identify reviewers.

We don’t use reviews to train AI models, and we don’t sell personal information.

4. Faces and voices

Reviews include people’s faces and voices. We store and play back those recordings, and we turn speech into text for captions and transcripts. We don’t use facial recognition, voice prints or any other technology that identifies a person from their face or voice, and we don’t create biometric identifiers or templates.

5. Who we share it with

  • The business you recorded for. Your review goes to the business that sent the link. If the business approves it, it may appear on their website, social media or marketing. Once a business publishes a review, it’s public.
  • Service providers who help us run videoreview, under contracts that limit their use of the data: cloud hosting and storage in the United States, payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, speech-to-text for captions, and customer messaging (Intercom) for our chat and support conversations. Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.
  • Legal reasons. If the law requires it, or to protect people, our users or videoreview from harm or fraud.
  • A business transfer. If videoreview is sold or merged, the information moves with it under the same protections. We’ll tell you before that happens.

We don’t sell personal information and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. How long we keep it

  • Reviews are kept while the business’s account is active and until the business deletes them.
  • Closed accounts: 30 days after an account is closed, we delete its reviews and account data. Copies in backups are gone within another 30 days.
  • Billing records are kept for up to 7 years because tax law requires it.
  • Usage logs are kept for up to 12 months.

7. Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your personal information at any time by emailing [email protected]. Businesses can download every video as an MP4 and delete reviews from their dashboard.

Reviewers: to remove or change your review, contact the business you recorded for, or email us and we’ll pass your request on and help.

California residents have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don’t sell or share personal information, so there’s nothing to opt out of. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights.

People in the EU and UK have similar rights, including the right to object to processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and securing the service, and, for reviews, the consent you give on the record page.

We’ll answer requests within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

8. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you logged in, to make the service work, and to run our support chat (Intercom), which loads once you start using a page. We don’t use advertising cookies or trackers. If we add analytics later, we’ll update this page and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

9. Security

We encrypt data in transit, store passwords scrambled, limit who on our team can access data, and back up our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.

10. Children

videoreview isn’t for children under 13. Businesses must not ask children under 13 to record a review, or anyone under 16 in the EU or UK, without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If we learn we’ve collected a child’s information without that consent, we’ll delete it.

11. Where your data is stored

We store data in the United States. If you use videoreview from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the US.

12. Changes to this policy

We’ll update the date at the top when this policy changes. If a change is significant, we’ll email account holders before it applies.
